If there’s one topic that’s been top of mind (and top of media) in the past two years, it’s our immune system. Whilst we’re accustomed to the usual advice about taking care of our bodies – eating right and exercising regularly so we stay in good health, how does all of this impact our immune system, and are there things we can do to help bolster our immunity?
What Does Our Immune System Do?
Our immune system, otherwise known as the lymphatic system, serves as a cleansing “super-highway”.
It’s basically the body’s sewerage system and one of its major roles is to transport of immune cells to the different organs of the body, whilst also eliminating toxins and chemicals. The lymph ‘highway’ should flow like a clear, clean river. But often it gets clogged up with waste. It becomes like a sludge creek meaning the lymph nodes aren’t able to filter waste effectively (or sometimes at all) and you get a backlog of waste in your muscles, tissues and cells which results in inflammation, disease and dysfunction.
Tell-Tale Signs Your Creek Is ‘Sludgy’
If your body has a ‘sludgy’ creek it can effect even this simplest things. Some tell-tale signs include:
- Poor sleep – waking up every day at one o’clock in the morning without fail would be a sign that your liver is overworked.
- Weight gain – just can’t seem to shift weight;
- Swollen ankles all the time;
- Fatigue or crankiness – waking up not feeling like you’ve slept at all;
- Being sick all the time
These are just a few of the signs that your immune system, your internal sewerage system, is blocked and may need your attention.
How Can We Improve Our ImmuneSsystem and Get Our River Running Clear?
There are many natural ways to improve the immune system without medical intervention, and these include:
- Getting outside into the sunshine and soaking up the vitamin D of the sun
- Eating un-sprayed, unwashed fruit and vegetables that have been grown in soil that has not been destroyed by RoundUp (or similar). If this isn’t possible, be sure to wash store/supermarket bought fresh produce before consumption
- Playing in the dirt and getting DIRTY!
- Stimulating the lymphatic drainage system by laughter (those big belly laughs), movement and deep breathing
Did You Know?
Our body loves germs (and a bit of dirt)! In fact, getting germs and some viruses actually helps boost the immune system, making it able to naturally fight off any bugs that come its way. As the body fights off bug after bug, it builds strength in being able to keep itself healthy. Just like working muscles at the gym increases their strength over time, so too it is with the immune system – it wants to be tested, but not too much, so it can improve its immune function.
With Covid causing a cleaning frenzy of hands, benchtops and just about every other surface with which humans have contact, the body is not being exposed to all those ‘good’ germs which help it to build its natural ‘immunity response’ muscle. So when the odd ‘bad’ germ comes along, the body freaks out and overreacts, causing more illness.
Dr Mikel HG Hoff, a lymphatic bio-function specialist, and creator of ANF Therapy which helps the body function in its optimal state explains,
“What happens though is that the lymphatic system can get ‘lazy’ through being in an over-sanitised environment where it doesn’t have to do much work.”
What Else Can We Do?
As someone who’s worked as a nurse for over 20 years, I was amazed when I discovered Amino Neuro Frequency (ANF) Therapy more than three years ago. ANF Therapy, used across Europe to support people’s immune system for 10+ years, helps by working directly on nerve cells to reset the frequency, ie the speed at which it sends and receives signals within the body so that normal functioning can return and the body starts its self-healing process like it is designed to do.
This therapy has not only completely revolutionized our clinic, it has been used by other health professionals around the country to deliver significant and lasting change for their patients.
Bottom Line
As I stated at the start, one of the best ways to give your immune system a boost is by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It’s important that you eat well, stay hydrated and exercise regularly in order to increase your body’s natural defenses against colds or other illnesses. A few simple tweaks, and a whole lot more belly laughs, really can make all the difference when it comes to keeping the doctor away!
When was the last time you had a really good belly laugh?
