Lisa Egglestone – The Benefits of Botanical Skincare

At Aequora, with our award-winning range of Australian botanical skincare, we place great importance on our certifications and ethical values. Our skincare products are all certified vegan friendly, cruelty free, non-toxic and made safe and all products are licensed by the Australian Made campaign.  We also ensure all our packaging is recyclable.

We love all animals and for us it was clear from the start that our skincare would be cruelty free but it also made sense to us that it should also be vegan friendly. The reasons we chose our Australian botanical skincare to be vegan are straight forward:

Vegan skincare is produced without harm to animals, as mentioned, but it basically means that no animal or animal-derived ingredients are used. Common animal and animal derived ingredients like beeswax, lanolin, uric acid etc. are often use in non-vegan skincare.

Vegan skincare is actually better for our skin and it is important to remember our skin absorbs up to 60% of products we use on it.  So, why is it better?  Basically, over a period of time absorption of ingredients that are animal derived can not only clog pores but they are entering your blood stream and could potentially have negative side effects.

The ingredients we formulate with are plant based which means they contain higher levels of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals which are essential in keeping your skin hydrated.  They also help repair damaged skin cells.  Plant based skincare is especially suited to people with sensitive skin or if you suffer from skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

Our Australian botanical products are packed with antioxidants, and an abundance of other skin loving ingredients including Vitamins A, C and E and a multitude of natural oils including Jojoba, Macadamia, Coconut and Sweet Almond to mention just a few.  We also include natural essential oils all packed with their own set of potent properties which include antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiseptic properties, not to mention the delicate and uplifting aroma they provide.

Nowadays, there is a vast array of vegan friendly skincare available on the market which means that it makes it more affordable for us all.  Just be sure to check for certifications showing that the product you are buying is not only natural and organic but also not tested on animals and vegan friendly – you can then rest assured you are putting what we consider to be the highest quality skincare onto your skin.
